Warner Bros. Pictures is hoping to be blessed with a new feature based on A Christmas Carol.
Robert Eggers is set to write and direct a movie adapting author Charles Dickens’ classic ghost story set at Christmas. Eggers will produce the project alongside Chris Columbus and Elenor Columbus for Maiden Voyage.
The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reported last year that Eggers’ next project as director is the werewolf horror movie Werwulf. Eggers co-wrote the script for the film that Focus Features has set for theatrical release on Christmas Day of 2026.
Eggers most recently directed the vampire film Nosferatu with a cast that includes Bill Skarsgard, Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin and Willem Dafoe. Focus Features released the remake of the 1922 silent classic in theaters in December, and it surpassed $180 million at the global box office.
The filmmaker’s other previous features include The Northman, The Lighthouse and The Witch.
Eggers is represented by WME and Frankfurt Kurnit.
Deadline was first to report on Eggers working on A Christmas Carol.
More to come.
