Before Prey director Dan Trachtenberg’s Predator Badlands hits theaters Nov. 7, 20th Century has an animated movie full of savage fighters out for bloody revenge in Predators: Killer of Killers to drop on Disney+ on June 6.
The second trailer for the anthology story centers on a Viking raider guiding her young son on a bloody quest for revenge. “Tonight, think of only one thing: killing the monster,” the warrior mother tells her son, as a giant alien being is then shown sitting atop a fortress, seemingly in wait for battle.
The other characters in the Predator: Killer of Killers trailer that dropped Tuesday include a ninja in feudal Japan who turns against his Samurai brother in a brutal battle for succession, and a Second World War pilot who goes airborne to investigate an otherworldly threat to the Allied cause.
“But while all these warriors are killers in their own right, they are merely prey for their new opponent — the ultimate killer of killers,” a synopsis from the producers states. News of two Predator movies to debut this year was revealed at CinemaCon and followed fans of Trachtenberg learning he had already directed Predator Badlands, a live-action take starring Elle Fanning.
Predator: Killer of Killers emerged as a secret project, with the first look teaser dropping at CinemaCon. Trachtenberg directs the animated take with Josh Wassung of the animation company The Third Floor. The script is by Micho Robert Rutare from a story he wrote with Trachtenberg.
Trachtenberg has become the driving creative mind in the Predator universe today after helming Prey, the 2022 sleeper hit for Hulu that starred Amber Midthunder as an 18th-century Comanche woman who comes face-to-face with a Predator.
The Predator franchise dates back to 1987’s The Predator, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and introduced the species of alien hunter that travels the galaxy, looking for the most formidable prey to hunt. The movie spawned a direct sequel and several reboots, as well as crossover movies with the Alien franchise.
