Joel Kinnaman has joined the cast of Apple TV+’s Imperfect Women, a limited series already starring Elisabeth Moss, Kerry Washington and Kate Mara about three women and the destructive harm of their hidden secrets.

The TV adaptation of Araminta Hall’s novel of the same name by Annie Weisman will also be executive produced by Moss and Washington. Kinnaman appeared in the crime thriller The Silent Hour from director Brad Anderson. Upcoming credits include action film The Beast and the Netflix mystery series Harry Hole.

Kinnaman will play Robert in Imperfect Women, a psychological thriller centering on a crime that shatters the lives of a decades-long friendship between three women. The mystery series explores guilt and retribution, love and betrayal, and as an investigation unravels, so does the truth about how even the closest relationships can change over time, says a synopsis from the producers.

Hall’s novel takes place after the murder of Nancy Hennessy her two best friends, Eleanor and Mary, left behind, an adoring husband and daughter as part of a picture-perfect life she led, and a lover whose identity she hid from everyone. As the investigation into her death falters, dark details about Hennessy’s life emerge and Eleanor and Mary wrestle with how little they knew about their best friend, one another and quite possibly themselves.

Imperfect Women will be produced for Apple TV+ by 20th Television and Apple Studios.Also executive producing is Lindsey McManus, whose banner along with Moss, Love & Squalor Pictures, optioned the book.

Lesli Linka Glatter will direct the pilot and executive produce the limited series, while Kay Oyegun will also write and executive produce under her overall deal with 20th Television. Author Hall will also executive produce.

Kinnaman is repped by WME and Magnolia Entertainment.
